Blender

It’s been several weeks since I posted an update but that’s basically because it has been just as long since I worked on Knock-On Effect. I’ve been busy with other things.

We published the news two weeks ago that Foreach – the company I co-founded in 2006 – was acquired by a larger group and I’ve decided to step out and fully focus on my gamedev experiments for the next couple of years. Slightly scary but very exciting!

Ofcourse, after 15 years there’s quite a bit to untangle so I have spent a lot of time doing administration stuff. Not all of it though.

I also took 4 days of Blender training. It was a 4 day crash course delivered by Midge ‘Mantissa’ Sinnaeve, who guided us through many of the features that Blender has to offer. Loads of information in a short timespan, but exactly what I was looking for.

Not that I’m planning to become a 3D artist but I want to have a better understanding of what is involved and I want to be able to make small modifications to some of the assets that I bought (more on that in a later post). Of course practice makes perfect so that’s what I’ll have to do.

Below you can find some of my first ever Blender renders.

Bad accident, very sad.

Apart from all of that, I *did* also take a couple of days of holiday and have some more ahead of me. I expect the actual game development work to pick up again as of next week, so stay tuned 🙂
