Day 62 – Grab on to your donuts!

No updates last week, because I spent the entire week hiking in the Harz region in Germany. A short holiday before the craziness of moving house starts (yep, that will also cut in my dev time).

Anyways, today was back at the keyboard and worked on picking up and looking more closely at the donut. It kinda works but I’m not very happy with the result. Even so, I won’t spend more time tweaking it in this version but keep it for the VR controls.

I expect grabbing is one of the main elements that I’ll have to change completely for the VR experience anyway. In VR you’ll actually want to see you holding the donut in your hand and turning it around, maybe switching it between hands.

Apart from the donut pickup experiment, I also added a highlight to some of the hotspots (interactable things).

As there’s something to show, here’s once more a little video.

I think this leaves me with one more change before I start working on the VR controls. Currently I open the inventory by moving the mouse cursor to the top of the screen, but that won’t work in VR. Have a lot of other stuff todo tomorrow, but I hope I’ll be able to squeeze in a change to open the inventory with a key press instead.
